IUCN World Conservation Congress

InTent has decided to participate in the IUCN World Conservation Congress taking place in Marseille. Held once every four years, it brings together several thousand leaders and decision-makers from government, civil society, indigenous peoples, business, and academia, with the goal of conserving the environment and harnessing the solutions nature offers to global challenges.

InTent has come to the congress to connect the dots across sustainable solutions and to accelerate change. We have multiple strategic partners present with us at the Congress, including la Tour du Valat, Fondation MAVA and Capitals Coalition.

Founded in 1954 by Luc Hoffmann, a visionary naturalist with a passion for ornithology, the Tour du Valat has since developed its research activities for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands with the constant desire of “better understand wetlands to better manage it”. Convinced that these rich but highly threatened habitats can only be conserved if human activities and natural heritage are reconciled, the Tour du Valat, which is located in the heart of the Camargue,  has been developing research and integrated management programmes for several decades.

Its three-prong approach aims to provide concrete responses for key issues by: generating knowledge and sharing it to strengthen the capacities of those concerned, including users, natural site managers and scientists, influencing the effective management of these environments, and informing public policies.

MAVA Foundation supports conservation that benefits people and nature through four formal Programmes in the MediterraneanCoastal West Africa, Switzerland and Sustainable Economy – as well as through a small number of Global Projects. Their mission is to conserve biodiversity for the benefit of people and nature by funding, mobilising and strengthening their partners and the conservation community.

The Capitals Coalition is a global collaboration redefining value to transform decision making. They sit at the heart of an extensive global network that has united to advance the capitals approach to decision-making. The Coalition provides an overview of the landscape, highlights connections, engages in outreach and facilitates expert advice within the capitals community. They ensure that different parts of the system are connected to one another and that leading organizations and experts are working collaboratively to achieve their shared ambition.

By working with our many thousands of global partners they accelerate momentum, leverage success, connect powerful and engaged communities and identify the areas, projects and partnerships where they can collaboratively drive transformational change.

Their ambition is that by 2030 the majority of businesses, financial institutions and governments will include the value of natural capital, social capital and human capital in their decision-making and that this will deliver a fairer, just and more sustainable world.
